Research Fellow, Centre for Wireless Monitoring and Applications
Grade 1, Fixed Term (Two Years and Six Months), Full Time, Nathan campus

Overview:
The position is funded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and
will be based at the Centre for Wireless Monitoring and Technology,
School of Engineering, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. Cricket
Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport are key collaborators in
the project.
The Role:
The project will develop a solution to enable the real-time wireless
monitoring of the three-dimensional motion of the elbow joint of elite
cricket bowlers in field conditions. The project involves extensive
scoping of appropriate technologies, the development of a cricket
specific motion analysis tool, validation against established
biomechanical laboratory methodologies and miniaturization for
unobtrusive wear by elite cricketers.
The Person:
The position provides an exciting opportunity for a PhD qualified
scientist with a strong background in engineering, physics, mathematics
and signal processing. Applicants with these skills from a variety of
backgrounds (e.g. biomedical or mechanical engineering or the sport
sciences) are encouraged to apply. A background and or strong interest
in sport will be an advantage, but is not essential. The position
requires good communication skills and the ability to work across a
multi-site multi-stakeholder project. .
The appointment is for 2.5 years and remuneration is at the Griffith
University Researcher Fellow 1. The project will require close
collaboration with sport scientists, engineers and staff from GU, CA and
the AIS. Relocation funds will be provided where appropriate.
Salary Range:
$55,042 - $64,746 per annum. Salary package including 17%
superannuation contribution: $64,399 - $75,754 per annum.
