Graduate Study in Biomechanics at UT Austin:

The Movement Science Program in the Department of Kinesiology at the
University of Texas at Austin is actively seeking highly motivated
graduate students interested in pursuing doctoral study in
Biomechanics. Specific areas of on-going work include the dynamics
of walking and running, biomechanics of tripping and falls, the
developmental biomechanics of pedaling, the effects of muscle fatigue
on the biomechanics of repetitive upper extremity movements, and the
control of trial-to-trial variability in repetitive tasks, among others.

We currently have multiple opportunities for funding (RA & TA) for
qualified individuals to start in Fall of 2008. Although the
"priority" application date (February 15) has passed, new
applications are still being considered.

THE PROGRAM:
The University of Texas Department of Kinesiology offers
comprehensive advanced training in the Movement Science leading to
both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Students take advanced level courses in
biomechanics, motor control, and research methodologies. Students
can also take classes outside of the Department of Kinesiology in
areas such as Mechanical and/or Biomedical Engineering, Biological
Sciences, and/or Neuroscience.

A strong background in the biological sciences and strong
computational skills (mathematics, physics, computer programming,
etc.) are highly desirable, as is clinical rehabilitation training
and experience. Fluent English is required. More information about

Applications for Fall 2009 are now being accepted. Outstanding
students from the biological and engineering sciences are strongly
encouraged to apply. Strong preference will be given to students
seeking Ph.D. degrees, although highly qualified M.S. degree
applicants will also be considered.
