Provide highly skilled clinical research coordinator support to the Director and members of the Bone & Joint Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation Center at the University of Michigan.
The incumbent will:
* Help run day-to-day activities in injury-related studies and complete laboratory tasks as specified. The research foci in the laboratory include the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injury, head injury, and arthritis
* Assist in developing, designing and conducting research projects according to specified plans
* Participate in formulating research methods and suggesting options for improving quality and recommending solutions
* Train users in equipment operation and laboratory techniques, explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, operations limitations, and outcomes
* Collection and analysis of human movement and strength data, using Vicon motion capture systems, AMTI force platforms, Delsys EMG equipment, and isokinetic dynamometers.
* Management and scheduling of experiments with human subjects
* Maintaining laboratory policies and documentation on procedures, including assembling, testing, calibrating, cleaning and making minor repairs to equipment
* Requires programming (e.g. C++, MatLab, and LabView) skills
* Write manuscripts and create presentations (e.g., PowerPoint and Photoshop)
* Works independently on collection of data and day-to-day operation of laboratory
The incumbent will also coordinate clinical research trials which includes the following responsibilities:
* Recruit patients, call patients and obtain survey information
* Manage and protect data, obtain informed consent
* Prepare and submit required forms/IRB forms
* Obtain demographic/subjective information
* Obtain objective data including range of motion, instrumented arthrometer data, and x-ray measurements
The person in this position must be detail oriented with the capacity to manage or coordinate several study-related tasks concurrently. Previous experience is highly desirable, an undergraduate degree (e.g., biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or kinesiology) is required, and a master's degree is preferable.
The position involves close interaction with faculty, clinicians, and graduate/undergraduate students; thus the incumbent must have strong people skills.
