EXCITING PHD OPPORTUNITY
PHD SCHOLARSHIP EXPLORING TALENT TRANSFER IN ELITE SPORT
Applications are invited for a joint PhD scholarship being offered by the Australian Sports Commission through its National Talent Identification and Development program (NTID)
and the School of Human Movement Studies at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The scholarship provides an exciting opportunity for graduates with a relevant
Class I or IIa Honours or Masters degree to undertake applied sport science research in close collaboration with sport scientists, high performance coaches and athletes.
The successful applicant will be enrolled and primarily based at QUT in Brisbane. The supervisors for this project are experts in the discipline of Skill Acquisition/Talent Identification
and Development and will be appointed from QUT and the Australian Sports Commission. The scholarship will be $25,000 per annum (tax-free) for a period of up to 3.5 years subject
to satisfactory annual progress. The research will focus on examining the theoretical and multi-factorial aspects of talent transfer specific to talent identification and development.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate well-developed knowledge and research skills across the disciplines of talent identification and development, skill acquisition,
psychology and motor control. Analytical aptitude and excellent communication and inter-personal skills are also required. Applications including curriculum vitae, the names of three
professional referees and a statement on research interests should be forwarded to Prof. Keith Davids by COB 30th April, 2009.
It is envisaged that the scholarship will commence mid 2009.
