Colleagues:

I'm attempting to temporally synchronize data capture between a
medgraphics CPX ultima gas exchange device with our vicon (612) motion
capture system. Does anyone have any recommendations on the best way to
do this?

I've called the company for support on this issue and the suggestion
they have provided is to tap into the RS232 plug that communicates with
the Treadmill or cyclometer. I would then need to convert the digital
signal into analog and input it into the A/D board. I'm happy to
proceed along this path but from a review of the literature, it appears
that researchers have found other ways to accomplish this.

Another option I'm considering is to tap into the computer mouse wire
such that when the data capture is started on the gas exchange device,
it would simultaneously send a trigger to the motion capture system.

I'd be very grateful if colleagues could recommend a solution or provide
some feedback to the ones suggested above.

Thanks for sharing,

Alex
