  • PhD assistantships available in Computational Biomechanics Lab,U of Denver

The Computational Biomechanics lab at the University of Denver is seeking
motivated students to pursue doctoral degrees in mechanical or biomedical
engineering. The assistantships cover tuition, health insurance, and a
competitive stipend. Review of applicants will continue until the positions
are filled. A start date of Sept 2009 would be preferred, summer is also
    possible.

    Desired qualifications include:
    * MS degree in mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering
    * Knowledge of finite element analysis and proficiency with commercial FE
codes. Experience with custom code development and/or custom scripting of
    commercial FE packages preferred.
    * Knowledge of knee, hip, spine, or shoulder biomechanics
    * Proficiency with programming languages (C, C++, Python)
    * Proficiency with probabilistic methods, multi-body dynamics simulation,
and/or nonlinear optimization techniques would be considered advantageous
    * Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills required

The computational biomechanics lab contains state-of-the-art computational
hardware and software tools. Current research interests are in the
development, verification, and application of probabilistic finite element
models to asses natural and implanted joint mechanics. To apply, please
email a curriculum vitae and brief statement of research interests and
experience to Dr. Paul Rullkoetter at prullkoe@du.edu. Please feel free to
    email for further information.

    Cheers,
    Paul
