    DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY PROGRAM
    FACULTY POSITION
    Des Moines University, Des Moines, Iowa

    The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program of the College of Health Sciences at Des Moines University is searching for an energetic, innovative physical therapy faculty member to join our program in a full-time, 12-month, tenure track eligible faculty position at the level of assistant or associate professor rank.

    Successful candidates must have demonstrated a commitment and expertise in the area of Neuromuscular Physical Therapy. Applicants should be able to teach in one or more of the following areas: adult and/or pediatric neuro-rehabilitation, motor control and pathophysiology. Research and scholarly activity are an integral part of our fully accredited DPT program and qualified candidates are expected to develop an innovative and extramurally funded research program. In addition to teaching, scholarly activity, and service, faculty may have the opportunity to provide patient care services in the on-campus physical therapy clinic.

    Qualifications: Qualified applicants should have a PhD or equivalent graduate degree; PhD candidates may also be considered. Academic, clinical experience and eligibility for PT licensure in Iowa required. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. Review of applications will begin July 15th, 2009 and continue until a successful candidate is identified.

    Des Moines University has degree programs in osteopathic medicine, podiatric medicine, physical therapy, physician assistant, health care administration, and public health. The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program of the College of Health Sciences offers a fully accredited DPT curriculum. The faculty is dedicated to developing outstanding professionals who value critical thinking, life-long learning and service. Manual therapeutic approaches are emphasized in our curriculum. Technology is playing an ever-increasing role at Des Moines University and faculty can develop and implement online teaching content in a wireless campus where all incoming students are provided with a personal laptop computer for curricular and personal use.

    Des Moines, conveniently located at the intersection of I-80 and I-35, is the largest city in Iowa and the state capitol within easy reach of Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Omaha. With more than 50 insurance companies, Des Moines is the world's third largest insurance center. The metropolitan area, with a population of 400,000, has a strong educational system at all levels.
