The Center for Performance and Clinical Research (CPCR) at Walter Reed Army
Medical Center (WRAMC), Washington, DC is seeking a Research Assistant. The
CPCR utilizes state of the art technology to quantify and interpret movement
impairments for injured Service members. CPCR staff conducts gait analyses
used for answering specific rehabilitation questions and conducts research
to advance clinical rehabilitation sciences associated with injured military
Service members. The CPCR staff is a multi-disciplinary team and provides
the highest clinical rehabilitation care while concurrently conducting
quality research.
JOB SUMMARY: Responsibilities are to coordinate clinical studies in a
motion analysis laboratory; process data using motion analysis software; and
assure that accurate documentation is kept and is in compliance with all
governing regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Interviews patients for clinical trials, validates eligibility to
participate, and evaluates patient commitment.
2. Educates patients about the clinical trial, their roles in the protocols,
and any other vital information. Acts as a research case manager for the
patients. Serves as a resource for the patients.
3. Schedules patient appointments according to research protocol
requirements, ensures patients meet appointments in timely manner.
4. Collects data appropriate to the research protocols, processes and
analyzes data resulting from the tests performed on the patients.
5. Prepares and maintains manual and computerized data in patient study
books according to prescribed standards.
6. Under direction of project heads, prepares documents that report
statistical analyses and descriptive data from patient's study.
NONESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
7. Provide routine equipment maintenance and management of computer
resources in the motion lab
8. Share in organizational responsibilities and maintenance of relevant lab
databases
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of clinical
investigational procedures; excellent interpersonal skills with patients and
clinical staff; excellent computer skills; ability to learn new computer
software applications; and ability communicate effectively verbally and in
written form.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's degree in science
related field
Minimum Experience: 2 or more years experience working with research
protocols
Physical Capabilities: Long periods of standing; some bending, lifting,
and walking
Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: N/A
Work Environment: Laboratory or clinical/hospital environment
