  • PhD position in the AnyBody Research Group

    Dear Subscribers,

A PhD scholarship on Posture and Movement Prediction is available in the AnyBody Research Group at Aalborg University, Denmark. The formal posting can be found at this link: The deadline for applications is June 30th and the position is open to all nationalities, but please observe the formal requirements concerning the application procedure.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a master's degree in biomedical engineering, control engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, physics or similar. The project will be in the interface between those fields. The project is a part of a larger effort to enhance the applicability of musculoskeletal simulation for a variety of purposes, and the ability for the model to predict posture and movement is an important part of this effort. The nature of the work will be mathematical and computational so an applicant must have excellent skills in those fields.

To get an idea of the point of departure of the study, please refer to this excellent paper:
Emanuel Todorov (2004): Optimality principles in sensorimotor control. Nature Neuroscience, 7(9), 907-915.

A Danish PhD scholarship is for three years, normally with no option for extension. The scholarship covers tuition and a decent salary for the duration of the study. It is not necessary to know Danish, but a good command of English is essential. The student is advised to take Danish classes during the study.
