Position Title: Medical Device Development Project Director

The Medical Device Development Project Director position is responsible for developing and implementing Medical Device Development project plans, for assembling Medical Device project teams comprised of KU researchers as well as experts outside the University of Kansas to implement project plans from Voice of Customer identification of need and validation through clinical proof of concept. The Project Director will also maintain a cohesive and highly effective project team during all phases of the medical device project, monitor project budgets and provide feedback to project teams. This position will contribute to the development of a strategic plan for KU Bioengineering, integrating functions in areas such as the engineering disciplines, biological and pharmaceutical disciplines, imaging, animal resources, the Bioengineering Product Development Core, the Entrepreneurship Program and integrated areas at KU Medical Center and collaborating hospitals. This position will be located on both KU-Lawrence and KU Medical Center campuses.
Required Qualifications
* MS or PhD degree in engineering, physics, or related field(s)
* At least six years direct work experience in the medical device industry, specifically experience working in a medical device research and development or related environment.
* Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Familiarity with ISO 13485 procedures and documentation.
* Demonstrated ability to manage several projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
* Demonstrated familiarity with regulatory environment related to medical devices.
