Dear all,
The International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) is proud to announce the
completion of the second ISB sponsored Gait Analysis Laboratory (the
first one established in Tanzania) at the Simon Bolivar University in
Caracas-Venezuela. ISB acquired the equipment through donations from
Motion Analysis (full camera system), AMTI (amplifiers, mounting rail,
epoxy), Cleveland Clinic (forceplatforms), and Delsys (EMG system).
Additionally, ISB was responsible for the installation of the equipment
and training of the personnel. Dr. Susan D'Andrea from the Center of
Restorative and Regenerative Medicine at VA Medical Centre-Brown
University, traveled to Venezuela at the end of May to perform the
installation and training.
The CIO Latin America magazine, which is a scientific periodical, was
present at the inauguration of the Gait Laboratory. They published an
article about it that could be accessed through the following link:

This new Gait Analysis Laboratory signifies a great accomplishment and
asset not only to the biomechanics community in this country but also to
the Venezuelan people in general. Prior to the establishment of this
gait lab, there was only one clinical gait laboratory in the country to
cover the needs of both their biomechanics research and diagnosis of
patients.
