    Biomechanics Research Technician
    Human Health & Nutritional Sciences
    College of Biological Sciences
    Temporary full-time for one year

    The Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences seeks a research technician in support of teaching and research labs. The position entails a wide variety of technical tasks, and the successful applicant should have a strong technical background with education and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of mechanical and electronic equipment, computer maintenance, software programming, and design and fabrication of mechanical and electronic equipment.

    Teaching support will entail preparation of equipment for labs, maintenance of lab equipment, and providing equipment training and any necessary technical support to instructors and students. As well, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and organization of lab equipment, including maintaining an inventory and ordering supplies and equipment. Research support duties will include software programming, design and fabrication of testing devices, assistance with data collection and analysis, and set-up and maintenance of computers. Other associated duties as assigned.

    Requirements of the position include: a suitable college diploma from a technical program coupled with several years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; proven ability to multi-task in a detail-oriented environment, enthusiasm for improving skills and knowledge, and demonstrated self-motivation combined with the ability to work effectively within a team environment. A background in biomechanics and/or physiology is considered an asset but is not required; training will be provided in these areas.
