    Biomechanical and Ultrasonographic Assessment of Shoulder Pathology in
    Polytrauma Fellowship
    Richmond VA Medical Center

    A two-year post-doctoral fellowship is available for a candidate
    interested in collaborative work on studies of biomechanical and
    ultrasound assessment of shoulder pathology in subsets of Veteran?s with
    Polytrauma induced connective tissue injuries including spinal cord
    injury. Specifically, we are looking to examine biomechanical
    measurements of the shoulder joint and ultrasonographic changes of the
    rotator cuff muscles, joint capsule/ligament structures, and subacromial
    space in patients who have sustained trauma to their shoulder or developed
    shoulder pain syndromes, and examine the effects of non-surgical
    treatments for these connective tissue pathologies. This is a
    post-doctoral fellowship sponsored by the Department of Veteran Affairs ?
    Richmond VA Medical Center. Biomechanical measurements using motion
    analysis equipment will be made available from the Clinical Biomechanics,
    Orthopedic and Sports Outcomes Research (COOR) laboratory in the VCU
    Physical Therapy department directed by Dr. Lori Michener. The fellow will
    also have access to two ultrasound scanners available in the Richmond VA
    PM&R section and one scanner available in the VCU Physical Therapy COOR
    laboratory together with portable biomechanical testing equipment for use
    in the clinics at the VA Medical Center. The clinics are directed by Dr.
    Jeffery Ericksen, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
    Mentorship will be by Jeffery Ericksen, MD and by Lori Michener, PhD, PT,
    ATC.

    Position is available for a start date of 1 July 2009, and negotiable.
    Fellowship compensation is $41,665.00 and includes VA benefits. If
