Post-doctoral Position at the University of Delaware
Applications are now being solicited from highly motivated individuals for immediately available, 2 yr. post-doctoral positions in the Muscle Performance and Motion Analysis Laboratories at the University of Delaware mentored by Dr. Lynn Snyder-Mackler. The focus of the laboratory is the study of the relationship between knee impairments (primarily quadriceps weakness), function, and the development of effective rehabilitation strategies. This position is made available through a grant from the NIH to study movement compensations and joint loading after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This grant is a 5 year study currently in its third year to investigate the evolution of movement patterns after TKA. The primary responsibility of these positions is the execution of the TKA project, participation in data analysis, and manuscript preparation. In addition there is opportunity to participate in the initiation of a novel translational project in collaboration with Dr. Liyun Wang in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Therefore, applicants should have experience in project management, processes of motion analysis data collection and analysis, and good writing skills. Preference will be given to licensed physical therapists.
Other current funded projects include two additional R01’s that study ACL injury, one an international collaboration with colleagues in Norway and an SBIR to develop and test a new neuromuscular electrical stimulator.
The Motion Analysis Laboratory is a 2500 sq foot facility that houses an 8 camera Vicon motion analysis system, including real time capabilities, 2 Bertec force platforms in the walkway and one imbedded in stairs and two 16 channel Motion Labs EMG systems. The Muscle Performance laboratory houses two complete muscle performance set-ups integrated with the system in the PT Clinic. The clinic is a 3500 sq ft facility in the same building as the research laboratories and serves as a resource for patient recruitment and test site for the interventional studies.
