The School of Kinesiology and Recreation at Illinois State University
invites applications for the position of a tenure-track Assistant or
Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Athletic Training
Education, beginning in Fall, 2010.
QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree required in Kinesiology, Higher
Education, or a related field with a specialization in Athletic Training
desired. Applicants with expected completion of doctoral degree before
August, 2010 will be considered. The individual must be Board Certified
in good standing as an Athletic Trainer for 5 or more years and must
hold or be eligible for Illinois Licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
Experience as an undergraduate Athletic Training program director and/or
clinical coordinator is preferred. College teaching experience is
highly desirable. For consideration at the associate level, applicants
must have an appropriate record of teaching excellence and scholarly
productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION: Maintain/exceed national standards for the
Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
2) TEACHING: Provide quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate
courses, as needed, for the Athletic Training Education Program. Direct
independent studies, graduate research projects and theses.
3) SCHOLARSHIP: Develop a focused area of scholarship that culminates
in nationally refereed publications and professional presentations, be
involved in scholarly projects with faculty and students, and submit
grant proposals.
4) SERVICE: Participate in faculty meetings and School activities.
Serve on School, College, and/or University Committees and contribute to
professional organizations. Advise majors regarding general career
options and professional matters.
APPOINTMENT: Tenure track, nine-month position. Salary is commensurate
with qualifications and experience with a comprehensive benefits
package.

the art Student Wellness/Kinesiology and Recreation building has begun
with the new facility scheduled for completion around January, 2011.
The Illinois State University Athletic Training Major is a nationally
accredited program of study at the undergraduate level. The
undergraduate Athletic Training program became initially accredited in
2001 and was subsequently re-accredited in 2006. There are
approximately 118 undergraduate students majoring in Athletic Training
and 18 graduate students in the Athletic Training sequence. Both
programs are the largest in the state of Illinois out of the 14
accredited undergraduate and 1 accredited graduate programs in the
state.
