  • Coupled Model Dissemination

    Dear Colleagues,

    I am writing this e-mail to inform you about public access to a modeling
    framework developed for a coupled musculoskeletal lower extremity model
    and finite element representation of a foot, which was recently made
    available by our research group. The framework was developed as part of
    a project to develop efficient methods for multidomain biomechanical
    simulations. In brief, a surrogate modeling scheme was adopted for
    efficient estimation of the underlying finite element foot model. As a
    proof of concept, a computationally intensive optimal control scheme was
    used to maximize jump height of the coupled model [1]. Interested
    parties can access the modeling components including the compiled
    musculoskeletal model, generic 2D finite element foot model, and
    surrogate model interface.

    We believe that this modeling framework can be a valuable resource for
    those interested in multidomain simulations of musculoskeletal movement
    and tissue deformation models. It will hopefully encourage future work
    in coupled modeling by facilitating access to an efficient surrogate
    modeling framework.
