The department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rockhampton Hospital, Queensland, Australia currently has a vacancy for a research officer. The position is classified as permanent and attracts a salary package of $45, 544 - 58, 649 p.a exlcuding leave loading and superannuation. Main responsibilities are:

· Preparation of protocols and supporting information for submission to the ethics committees

· Identification of eligible trial participants and discussion of the trial with the participant

· Extraction of relevant clinical data including treatment information from medical records as necessary

· Maintenance of clinical trials database

· Coordinate clinical trial initiation and development

· Perform internal and external quality control and audit procedures

· Attend and contribute to relevant clinical, professional and departmental meetings

· Participate in clinical and professional supervision and participate in student and staff education and learning

· Assistance with unit audit, clinical governance and quality control

· Assist and write funding grant applications

· Education of staff within the health district in research methods, quality control and clinical auditing


The position would suit an applicant who has experience in collection and analysis of data, writing of grant and ethics applications, is interested and understands clinical trial processes and has the ability to work indepently. As we are currently building a gai laboratory, a qualification in Biomechanics, Health and Human Performance, Physiotherapy or Sports Science would be ideal. For further information please contact:
