POSITION
Assistant/Associate Professor of Engineering (Biomedical Engineering)
QUALIFICATIONS
The engineering programs at Grand Valley State University are designed
to produce job-ready, as well as graduate school ready, engineering
graduates in support of local and regional industries, including the
expanding biomedical sector. The successful candidate will possess the
skills necessary to support a new biomedical engineering minor as well
as existing efforts in mechanical engineering and / or product design
and manufacturing engineering primarily through teaching, course
development, and curriculum development with professional development
activities including scholarship in the biomedical engineering area.
Preference will be given to candidates with biomedical related teaching
and industrial experience. Professional licensure, the ability to teach
supporting courses in the area of kinematics and dynamics, and interest
in general curriculum development are desired. A Ph.D. or equivalent in
Engineering is required.
SALARY

RESPONSIBILITIES
The position involves teaching, professional development, and service
in our Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) degree which includes
computer, electrical, mechanical, and product design and manufacturing
engineering programs as well as a practice-oriented masters program and
emerging efforts in Biomedical Engineering. The candidate must be
committed to the highest quality of teaching and should have a strong
interest in laboratory based teaching and industry involvement.
GVSU offers an ABET accredited BSE degree with mandatory co-op
education experience. GVSU has a fully equiped biomechanics lab
including a motion capture system, force platforms, and electromyography
for teaching and scholarship. The applicant should support our strong
industry interface and program to meet the needs of industry.
Participating in existing collaborations with the growing Grand Rapids
area medical community and the GVSU College of Health Professions is
expected.
