    Tenure-Track Faculty Position

    Bioengineering



    The Colorado School of Mines invites applications for a tenure-track faculty
    position in the Division of Engineering - BioEngineering specialty. The
    position is anticipated at the Assistant Professor rank, although
    exceptional candidates may be considered at a higher rank. The initial
    appointment should start in fall 2010.



    Located in Golden, in the foothills of the Rockies, 13 miles west of
    downtown Denver and 21 miles south of Boulder, Mines has an enrollment of
    approximately 4,000 undergraduates and 1000 graduate students in a broad
    range of applied science and engineering disciplines. Research funding is
    approximately $50 million annually. More information about the school and

    Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the
    undergraduate and graduate levels, direct graduate research, and develop a
    strong, externally funded research program. The research areas of interest
    include, but are not limited to: musculoskeletal biomechanics, human motion,
    and/or musculoskeletal prosthetics.



    Qualifications: Candidates must have received a doctoral degree in
    bioengineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline by the time
    of commencement of the position. The research focus for the candidate must
    be related to musculoskeletal biomechanics with specialization in
    prosthetics, human motion, experimental and/or computational biomechanics,
    or a closely related field. The successful candidate must have a commitment
    to excellence in interdisciplinary engineering education at both the
    undergraduate and graduate levels and should have demonstrated potential to
    develop a self-sustaining research program. Excellent communication and
    interpersonal skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates
    who have an established record of scholarly accomplishments and/or funded
    research.



    The successful applicant should have a record of, or the potential for,
    excellence in teaching and scholarship, and national or international
    professional recognition that would merit appointment at the appropriate

    Preference will be given to candidates whose interests intersect existing
    areas of the Bioengineering and Mechanical Engineering specialty groups
    (hip, knee, and spine mechanics; arthroplasty; intelligent orthopaedic
    implants; computer assisted surgery), and the Intelligent Biomedical Devices
    and Musculoskeletal Systems center (IBDMS). Colorado School of Mines has
    strong research ties with the Departments of Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation
    Medicine, and Physical Therapy at the University of Colorado.



    Compensation: Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications
    and experience. Mines also provides an attractive benefits package including
