Salary: £44,931 - £62,194 per annum (subject to experience and qualifications)
Applications are invited for an academic post at Reader/Senior Lecturer level in Biomedical Engineering within the Centre for Biomedical Engineering. Candidates with research interests in the area of human movement analysis are encouraged, but applicants with interests in other areas of biomedical engineering will also be welcome. The successful applicant will teach on postgraduate and undergraduate programmes within the Division of Mechanical, Medical and Aerospace Engineering, notably the undergraduate BEng/MEng programmes in Medical Engineering and MSc programme in Biomedical Engineering.
The Centre for Biomedical Engineering is an established activity in the Division with interests covering a broad range of research and teaching programmes. Currently, these bring together over 30 members of staff and research students. An extensive network of clinical links also supports the work of the Centre.
The University has a strong research ethos and Biomedical Engineering has excellent facilities and research programmes. Current research themes include human movement; functional electrical stimulation; biomechanics of injury; orthopaedic implants; neural interfacing; laboratory on a chip studies; bioelectrics of cancer and stem cells; virtual reality; and biomaterials. We have good industrial links with a range of engineering companies and experience of collaborative research with industry will be considered favourably. The successful applicant will have an active research background relevant to their expertise.
