    Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Mechanical Engineering

    Please see the below announcement. The department will be filling
    multiple positions, at least one of which will be in Biomechanics.

    Position Title: Assistant Professor

    Position Description: The Department of Civil and Mechanical
    Engineering (CME) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking
    applicants for a tenure track faculty position in Mechanical
    Engineering. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to
    quality undergraduate and graduate education and will be expected to
    develop an externally funded research program. All areas of mechanical
    engineering will be considered including applicants with expertise in
    biomechanics, mechanical design, renewable energy, and thermal systems.
    Applicants must demonstrate high potential for success in their area of
    expertise.

    The CME department (http://sce.umkc.edu/cme/) offers BS
    (ABET-accredited) and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering and
    participates in UMKC's interdisciplinary PhD program. CME currently has
    9 tenured/ tenure track faculty members supported by 25 adjunct and
    teaching faculty and a diverse student population of 240 undergraduate
    and 80 graduate students. Department annual research expenditures
    exceed $2,000,000 and include NSF Career and Major Research
    Instrumentation funding. UMKC is the only ABET-accredited engineering
    school in Kansas City, a city of 2 million people and a world-class
    engineering hub that is home to companies such as Black and Veatch,
    Cerner, Burns & McDonnell, Hallmark, Sprint Nextel, and Garmin. The CME
    department has experienced tremendous growth in the last five years and
    is looking for ambitious faculty to help grow and develop the
    department. Many collaborative opportunities exist with UMKC's Schools
    of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Biological Sciences; the
    Stowers Institute for Medical Research, the Midwest Research Institute
    and local Kansas City mechanical engineering firms. The University of

    Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical
    Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely-related discipline.
