Whole Body Interaction involves the integration of motion, physiological signals, cognitive models and emotion directly or indirectly influencing interaction, or acting as a feedback channels in the interaction loop. Researchers are invited to submit position papers on the topic of Whole Body Interaction for a two-day workshop to take place at CHI2010, Atlanta April 10&11, 2010. Participants from fields including the following
* HCI specialists in physical interaction
* HCI specialists in advanced interaction frameworks
* Movement Scientists
* Performance Artists and theorists
* Health practitioners specialized on movement
* Motion Capture practitioners and researchers
* Games developers and researchers
are invited to submit position papers of 3-4 pages to d.england@ljmu.ac.uk which addressing the integration of such aspects of Whole Body Interaction as
* Advanced Interaction frameworks
* Integration of motion capture with other modes of human behaviour
* Bio-cybernetics
* Human Performance with multiple and advanced sensors.
Position papers should address advanced research themes and will be selected by the organizing committee on the basis of quality, relevance and balance of contribution to the workshop. Contributors will be invited to submit extended papers to a journal special issue following the workshop. Activities during the workshop will include
* Presentations of position papers
* Groups discussions on the challenges for Whole Body Interaction and ways forward for a network of researchers
* Hands-on prototyping exercises
Important Dates
*Submission Date 6th January 2010
* Notification Date 16th January 2010
At least one author of the accepted paper must attend the workshop and one or more days of the CHI2010 conference. If more than one author per paper is planning to attend they must contact the organisers first as there will be a limit on the total number of workshop attendees.
