Assistant/Associate Professor of Environmental Health Sciences
The School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP) invites applications for a tenure-track, academic year appointment (10 months) in environmental health sciences at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The successful candidate will be appointed to one of four SPHHP departments, Biostatistics, Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, Health Behavior, or Social and Preventive Medicine, according to their qualifications and interests. We seek applications from highly qualified and motivated individuals whose academic goals embrace the school's mission to improve the health of populations, communities, and individuals through disciplinary and interdisciplinary education, research, and service.
Candidates should have an earned doctorate in environmental health or a related discipline with appropriate research qualifications. Any areas of specialization will be considered, including, but not limited to, exposure assessment, environmental impact, risk assessment, environmental toxicology, environmental community health, or environmental justice. Laboratory or community-based and other translational approaches are welcomed. Current MPH environmental health faculty research interests include health effects of pesticides and air pollution, occupational exposures, carcinogenesis, biomarker development, and toxicology. Affiliation is also encouraged with one of UB's Strategic Strengths, (see: http://www.buffalo.edu/ub2020/strengths/index.html) a series of eight distinguished, cross-disciplinary areas of cooperative research. Potential collaborations with strategic strength faculty exist in the Chemistry, Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, Geography and Geology departments.
Associate professor candidates will be expected to have an established and current record of extramurally funded research and peer-reviewed publications in high quality journals. The successful candidate will be supporting an accredited MPH concentration in environmental health, and will be connected with a relevant Ph.D. program in the school (e.g., biostatistics, epidemiology, community health & health behavior, or exercise science) and/or outside the school (e.g. pharmacology and toxicology or environmental engineering).
