*Postdoctoral Position – Project: Postural Instability and Gait
Disturbances in Parkinson’s Disease*

A two-year postdoctoral fellowship position is available immediately in
the Human Sensorimotor Control Laboratory of Dr. Colum MacKinnon at
Northwestern University. The position is funded by a grant from the
Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The project is
examining the relationship between postural instabilities and gait
dysfunction in people with Parkinson’s disease and REM sleep behavior
disorder (RBD). The project will involve experiments examining postural
control, gait initiation, gait continuation, sleep impairments and MRI
scanning of the brain stem.
The preferred applicant will have a doctoral degree in the area of motor
control, biomechanics or neurophysiology related to the control of
posture, balance and gait and experience working with clinical
populations, particularly those with Parkinson’s disease. Expertise in
the use of EMG, motion analysis and force platform systems, and
programming in MatLab or LabView is preferred.
