    Boston University (BU) College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences:
    Sargent College is currently recruiting top quality applications in
    movement sciences and biomechanics for the Doctor of Science (ScD) in
    Rehabilitation Sciences.

    *Rehabilitation sciences: *Rehabilitation is an interdisciplinary field
    of study with the primary aim of enhancing health, function and quality
    of life among persons who have or who may be at risk of developing,
    acute injuries or long-term conditions. The BU Sargent program offers an
    unique opportunity for students to attain the advanced science and
    research training needed to further knowledge and understanding in
    rehabilitation sciences incorporating students and faculty from the
    disciplines of athletic training, exercise sciences, movement sciences,
    occupational therapy, physical therapy, as well as other fields such as
    public health and engineering. The research of faculty spans the entire
    life course, from infancy to older adulthood, and addresses a wide
    variety of populations.

    *Core curriculum and specializations: *The program welcomes applicants
    with or without a clinical professional degree and prepares graduates
    for research and teaching careers in the rehabilitation sciences domain.
    While developing expertise through specialized study and collaboration
    with their individual mentors, students network across specializations
    and across cohort years through joint doctoral seminars and core
    curriculum courses. The core courses provide grounding in critical
    thinking, research training and academic instruction. Currently there
    are two specializations – i.e., Health, Adaptation and Disability and
    Movement Sciences. These specializations are cohesive structured
    curriculum, with each student developing his or her individualized
    program of study. For example, in the Movement Sciences Specialization
    ,
    projects include biomechanics and coordination dynamics of locomotion,
    effects of hip disorders on leg function and walking ability, and visual
    perception disorders and navigation in Parkinson’s disease.

    *Mentorship: *A mentorship model offers each student individualized
    attention and guidance. Participation in the mentor’s research
    activities provides exposure to the topic area and research procedures,
    and allows for the design and implementation of a supervised research
    project.

    *Fellowship: *Research/teaching fellowships are available for highly
