Geometric Integration

Please could anyone explain geometric Integration (in as simple terms as possible) with respect to the statement below.

"During walking the force plate records directly the vertical accelerations of the Centre of Mass. From these measured accelerations, it is easy to calculate the displacement of the center of gravity of the body by geometnc integration."
