Dear List Members:
My lab at the university has been approached by a local company, who would like to rent our equipment and lab space to do motion capture for computer animation. The university policy concerning guidelines for pricing of these services states that "An attempt should be made to quantify the value of indirect costs by referring to market prices to purchase or rent the amount of equipment or space that is consumed." I need to try to determine what the market price for this is, if in fact such a thing exists. I'm sure it could depend on many factors, but at this point I don't have anything to go on. If you have ever rented your space or motion capture equipment to someone for this purpose, I would be interested in hearing from you. Essentially, I don't want to overcharge this company, but at the same time don't want to undersell the university or the lab either. Also, if any of you know anyone in the motion capture industry who might have some knowledge about this, I'd be grateful if you could let me know. Thanks very much in advance for your time.
