    The Musculoskeletal Quantitative Imaging Research group at UCSF is
    seeking a research engineer to conduct skeletal imaging research
    studies. The research engineer will be involved primarily in evaluating
    bone quality in human subjects using High Resolution peripheral
    Quantitative Computed Tomography (HR-pQCT). Secondary research
    assignments may include ex vivo specimen analysis via micro Computed
    Tomography (micro-CT) or Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.
    Specific duties will include: HR-pQCT, micro-CT, and FTIR data
    acquisition; image processing, data analysis, and data management; study
    subject interfacing; tissue specimen preparation; interpretation and
    dissemination of findings.

    Applicants with a B.S. or M.S. in mechanical engineering,
    bioengineering, or a related field are preferred. Prior experience in
    data and statistical analysis, including proficiency in programming, is
    required. Experience in laboratory work, including human tissue
    handling, and in manufacturing and machine tool use is desirable.
    Candidates must have excellent communication skills, be highly organized
    with extreme attention to detail, and must consistently meet deadlines.
