The Bioengineering Group at National Research Council (CSIC), Madrid, seeks:
- 6 PhD students and 1 Technician for research in the field of rehabilitation robotics.
The applicants will work within European and Spanish funded projects, investigating how robotic exoskeletons and/or neuroprostheses can be beneficial for diverse rehabilitation practices.
· Position 1: The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering. The applicant will be involved in the development of prototypes of hybrid orthoses / exoskeletons, especially regarding the application of functional electrical stimulation (FES) in rehabilitation. Knowledge in electronics circuit development and strong programming skills in C, C++, MATLAB or equivalent are also required.
· Position 2: The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering. The candidate will investigate musculoskeletal models relevant for application of functional electrical stimulation (FES) in diverse rehabilitation scenarios. The researcher will combine experimental and computational approaches to the study of human movement. Knowledge of biomechanics/kinesiology is required and previous experience in FES would be beneficial. The applicant will be involved in the development of experimental tools for human movement analysis and computer modeling applied to the musculoskeletal system.
· Position 3: The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering. The candidate will be involved on the design of exoskeletons and orthoses prototypes and must have a demonstrable experience with 3D CAD mechanical design. This PhD is aimed at developing a state of the art robotic exoskeleton for upper- and lower-limb rehabilitation and functional compensation.
· Position 4: The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechatronics and should have demonstrable experience in integration and implementation of sensor and actuator architectures. The candidate will be responsible for integration of advanced sensor and actuator systems in new control architectures in diverse applications of motor rehabilitation. Previous experience in the biomedical field would be beneficial.
· Position 5: The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Knowledge of robotic design and biomechanics is desired. Experience and competencies in 3D CAD mechanical design would be beneficial. The applicant will be involved in the development of human / robot biomechanical models.
· Position 6: The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical Engineering. The candidate will perform research on the design and implementation of a control structure for efficient and safe orchestration of the user and neurorobots / neuroprostheses in rehabilitation and functional compensation scenarios. Strong programming skills in C, C++, MATLAB or equivalent are required.
· Technician Position: The ideal candidate will hold an Electronic Systems Technician (or equivalent) diploma. Knowledge and demonstrable experience in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, fabrication and testing are required.
