Post-Doctoral Research Position in Motor Control/Biomechanics

New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work in the areas of Motor Control/Biomechanics. Our research explores basic mechanisms underlying human movement with extensions to clinical populations and rehabilitation. Our interdisciplinary research program addresses questions in human movement control by bridging disciplinary approaches from neuroscience, biomechanics, engineering, and medical imaging. The overall goal of our research is to understand neuromuscular and neuromechanical adaptations that occur with exercise, aging, orthotic interventions, and complementary and alternative medicine therapies. Our laboratories are equipped with several experimental stations, including electrophysiological instrumentation associated with transcranial magnetic stimulation, conditioning reflex protocols and motor unit recordings, 3D motion analysis systems with surface EMG and force plates, clinical gait analyses protocols, Biodex equipment, metabolic cart, sonomyography (SMG) and tissue ultrasound palpation system (TUPS). The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in one of the following disciplines: Neuroscience, Exercise Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biology, or a related field . He/she should demonstrate an academic record of scientific excellence, independent research, and a strong interest in an interdisciplinary approach to human movement control and should have expertise in motor control, biomechanics, and/or medical imaging. Experience in programming is expected (Matlab, C++, LabVIEW, Statistics packages, etc.). The successful candidate is expected to get involved in existing research projects but will also be encouraged to develop his/her own research aligned with the overall goals of our laboratories.
NYCC is located in the heart of the Finger Lakes and we have collaborations with colleagues in other institutions in central New York which provides a stimulating environment for interdisciplinary research.
