The Comparative Biomaterials Lab at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada is looking to recruit two PhD students to start in September 2010 on two different funded projects:
Cell Biomechanics: This student will explore the biophysical and cellular basis of skin-blistering diseases such as Epidermolysis Bullosa Simplex. Applicants should have interest in and experience with biomechanics and/or cell biology.
Biomimetics of High Performance Fibres: This student will work on a project aimed at producing eco-friendly protein-based materials that could one day compete with petroleum-based polymers. Applicants should have interest in and experience with biochemistry, bioengineering, and/or biomechanics.
