  • Children'shoe design

    Dear Colleagues,

Our company is working on the maturation of gait (mainly kinetic and
kinematic) in children younger than six years old in order to develop
    adapted shoes.

Our questions are about the role of the shoe. Should it keep the foot and
the ankle (e.g. rigid stiffener, rising upper) for preventing the falls and
improving balance ? Or should it release the foot movements (as barefoot
walking) for not disturbing the foot maturation in very young children (our
    position)?

I wonder if references exist in literature which could answer these
    questions.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Sincerely,

    William Samson, PhD student
