For collecting subject video for visual analysis only, we have been
collecting standard NTSC video in an AVI format to a PC via fire wire
through standard 3-CCD camcorders. Thus the DV tapes in these devices
only serve as a backup.
Unfortunately one of these devices was recently fried, and will cost
$1000 to repair. To take advantage of our specific needs (no onboard
camera storage required) and newer devices on the market, can anyone
recommend from their own experience a 3-CCD camera with either GigE or
firewire output that would be suitable for capturing walking video (must
include decent zoom and auto focus capability)?
