Mechanical Properties of Migrating Cells of the Lung Epithelium
Description : The faculty mentor for this position will be Dr.CHRISTOPHER WATERS. Postdoctoral Research Position available immediately to work within a lung research group at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, TN. The NIH-funded project concerns the use of atomic force microscopy (AFM) in the indentation mode to determine the elasticity of migrating cells of the lung epithelium. The ideal candidate for this position would have the following capabilities: intermediate to advanced skills with the use of AFM in imaging and indentation of living cells; a background in engineering; proficiency in Matlab and other computational software; experience in cell culture and microscopy; ability to work in a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment. Qualifications : M.D./Ph.D. intermediate to advanced skills with the use of AFM in imaging and indentation of living cells; a background in engineering; proficiency in Matlab and other computational software; experience in cell culture and microscopy.
Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and based on the prevailing wage for postdoctoral fellows set by the US Department of Labor.
