  • ISSSM Conference - Biomechanics Symposium

    Dear subscribers,

Northumbria University is proud to be hosting the 2nd International Sport Science and Sport Medicine Conference this August for the second year running. The conference is to be held at Northumbria University's City Campus, in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. See the website for more details at http://www.isssmc.com/.

The conference aims to deliver Europe's Premier Sports Medicine & Sports Science Conference - an annual event bringing together national and international experts - in the build up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond. Also looking forward to the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

This year, the conference benefits from a symposium titled "Practical Sports Biomechanics" consisting presentations with accompanying laboratory demonstrations. The laboratory demonstrations will take place in Northumbria University's new £30 million sport facility that houses a suite of state of the art, purpose built, sport and exercise sciences laboratories, all feeding off an instrumented sprint straight.

The biomechanics symposium will be held on Thursday 19th August. Details of the symposium are as follows:

    Title: Practical Sports Biomechanics
Chair: Dr Nick Caplan, Northumbria University

14.00-14.30: Current EMG Techniques and interpretation for sports performance
