  • Engineering position at U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory(UNCLASSIFIED)

    Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
    Caveats: NONE

The U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory is seeking an engineer for
an opening in the Injury Biomechanics Branch. IBB investigates
mechanisms of and tolerances to injury and evaluates effectiveness of
proposed countermeasures. The candidate would be involved in research in
a variety of areas, including protection from blast injury and injuries
to the head, neck and spine, and face and eye. He or she will be
expected to fulfill a variety of roles within a multidisciplinary
research team and will be involved in all phases of research, from
    planning to analysis and publication.

Interested candidates should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Mechanical or Biomechanical Engineering or in Bioengineering with strong
mechanical experience. This opportunity is being offered through the Oak
Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) program as a means to
provide research opportunities to recent graduates. As such, applicants
must have received their most recent degree within the past four years.
This position is open to U.S. citizens only.

Candidates will be responsible for preparing presentations and
publications and must have excellent communication skills. They should
be comfortable working as part of a team or working independently with
limited oversight - ability to keep a broad perspective and to define
and prioritize tasks is critical. The applicant will likely be involved
in many projects simultaneously and must be adaptable and versatile.
Strong computer skills with programming experience (e.g., MatLab) are
highly desirable, as is experience with (or ability to self-teach the
use of) laboratory equipment such as motion capture systems,
instrumentation and data acquisition systems, and materials testers.

Activities are based at Fort Rucker in southern Alabama. Occasional
travel is required for conducting field research and attending meetings
    and conferences.
