Dear Colleague,
We are happy to announce the 4th European Cell Mechanics Meeting (CellMech 2011) to be held
17-19 October 2011 at the historical building of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Cellular functions and behavior depend critically on their mechanical properties. Furthermore, their ability to sense and respond to environmental mechanical signals has dramatic effects on many cell decisions including cell fate and cell death. In an interdisciplinary approach a rapidly growing field of scientists focuses experimentally as well as theoretically on various aspects of cell mechanics. This conference will address this interdisciplinary topic, covering aspects of:
* Cell mechanics and relation to migration, adhesion, and traction generation
* Cell mechanics in relation to tissue development/engineering/disease
* In vitro experiments concerning cytoskeletal mechanics
* Theoretical modelling of cell mechanics and mechano-responsiveness
* Mechanics of growth of plant cells and/or yeast cells
Invited speakers (confirmed) are:
