    A WORKSHOP FOR UNDERREPRESENTED* POSTDOCS & LATE STAGE PHD STUDENTS IN
    SCIENCE, ENGINEERING & PSYCHOLOGY




    SEPTEMBER 19 - 21, 2010

    Rice University, Houston, TX

    Application deadline: July 29, 2010

    Applicants selected to participate will be notified by August 16, 2010.

    Those selected to participate in the workshop will have their hotel stay
    (two per room) and meals during the workshop covered. Participants will be
    required to pay for all travel expenses.



    This three-day, hands-on workshop will provide information about:

    Finding the right institutional fit

    Discovering what the search committee is looking for

    Standing out in the interview

    Negotiating a good start up package

    Obtaining funding

    Building your lab

    Understanding the tenure process

    Balancing work and family



    * Underrepresented in Science, Engineering and Psychology includes all
    women, African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaskan Natives and
    US born Pacific Islanders
