  • Footwear Biomechanics Group of the International Society ofBiomechanics

    Dear Colleagues,
I am urging you to become a member of the Footwear Biomechanics Group
of the International Society of Biomechanics. If you are interested in
research on footwear or lower extremity function as it relates to
footwear, then this is the organization that will help you disseminate
your research. Topics of interest to our members include:
    1) footwear design
    2) injuries as they relate to footwear
    3) athletic footwear and performance
    4) footwear as a rehabilitation instrument
    5) footwear and orthotics and many others.

The benefits of membership in the FBG are numerous and include:
    1) subscription to the new journal Footwear Science
    2) reduced rate for the FBG conference fee
    3) eligibility for one of seven $1,000 awards given at the FBG symposium
    4) consideration for the $25,000 Nike Award
among others. The annual fee for joining our group is relatively modest
compared to other organizations ($55 Canadian) and the benefits are
many. If you were a member in the past, please be aware that you must
renew each calendar year. To join the Footwear Biomechanics Group or to
renew your membership, you can do so at:

    http://footwearbiomechanics.org/?q=membership_fee

I urge you to consider joining biomechanists and physiologists from many
other countries in membership in our group.

    Sincerely,
    Joseph Hamill, PhD
    Chair, Footwear Biomechanics Group

The next Footwear Biomechanics Group Symposium will be held in Tubingen,
Germany from June 29, 2011 to July 1, 2011. See you there.

Footwear Science is currently reviewing submitted manuscripts for its
