Dear Readers,
I am very pleased to let you know that the Hong Kong Institute of
Education (www.ied.edu.hk) is starting to recruit the next cohort of
Research Postgraduate (MPhil, PhD) students. The application deadline is
24 November 2010; students will commence study February 2011 (after the
Chinese New Year holiday). Students may also apply on-line. Information
about the RPg programmes as well as on-line application procedures can
be found in the web-page http://www.ied.edu.hk/acadprog/rpg/index.html.
Completion of a MPhil degree normally requires 2 years of full-time
study; completion of a PhD degree normally requires 3 to 4 years of
full-time study. Full-time MPhil and PhD students are eligible for
receiving Postgraduate Studentships which include a monthly stipend,
funding for annual conference attendance and some support of their
research project. The Institute which has sole and absolute discretion
in granting the award of the Postgraduate Studentship may also take into
consideration the candidates' results. Studentships are tenable on an
annual basis and are renewable upon satisfactory progress and the
availability of funding. The monthly amount of Postgraduate Studentship
in 2010/11 is HK$13,800 (7.75 HK$ = 1 US$) which is subject to
adjustment.
For potential applicants with an interest in biomechanics and exercise
physiology-based projects, please see
http://www.ied.edu.hk/hpe/view.php?m=157&secid=159 for information
regarding the Human Performance Laboratory. To discuss possible
research proposals, please contact Dr Drew Smith - biomechanics

(delwong@ied.edu.hk).
Cheers,
