Position Description:
Manager Micro-Computed Tomography Core Facility
A new core laboratory specializing in micro-computed tomography (mCT) of hard and soft tissues and biomaterials has been established at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry through NIH funding, and we are searching for a core facilities manager. This position will be a full-time staff position that provides technical leadership to a multi-user core research facility and has oversight for the day-to-day operation of the facility. Responsibilities will include managing the facility, providing service to users, meeting with users and understanding their experimental needs, scheduling use of hardware and software, scanning specimens, screening and verifying data, running reconstruction and post-processing algorithms, training users, performing hardware and software maintenance, keeping track of usage and charges, and maintaining records. Education and experience: minimum of a BS degree and experience operating a mCT system with bone and/or biomaterials specimens. Persons with an advanced degree will also be considered if they are able to provide users with intellectual input into experimental design and data interpretation, and collaborate in the development of new techniques.
