Open Position: Lecturer in Human Physiology - Milan, Italy
The Department of Human Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the
University of Milan is opening a new Lecturer position. This is meant to
reinforce the academic staff and contribute to the teaching and research in
Human Physiology (Italian Scientific Code BIO/09), for which the Department
has a long lasting tradition and commitment.
Stemming from the four main original research fields at the times of Prof.
Rodolfo Margaria, namely Exercise Biochemistry, Biomechanics of Locomotion,
Respiratory Physiology and Neurophysiology, many distinguished scientists
(G. Cavagna, E. Agostoni, P. Cerretelli, P.E. di Prampero, to name a few),
started developing there their own career and contributed to the department
reputation in the last 60 years.
Current areas of research are: Physiology of Exercise, Motor Learning and
Control, Biomechanics of Human Movement and Locomotion, Respiratory
Physiology and Mechanics, Sleep Neurophysiology.
The opened Full Time Lecturer position deals with research in one of the
above areas and with teaching Human Physiology. Recently the Faculty of
Medicine inaugurated a new curriculum that is taught in English. For this
reason candidates are required to be familiar with teaching in both
languages.
Candidates should have:
- a very good publication record
- proven autonomy in experimental design and management
- well developed interpersonal and communication skills
- the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
environment.
Programming skills and a PhD in relevant areas of research are welcome. To
