  • Forces on dog femur

    To all in biomech-l!

Here is a rather peculiar question, which arose out of a civil
action. A dog with a broken femur was treated with a plate. Three weeks
after surgery the plate failed and the dog had to undergo a new surgery.
The question in the suit is now:

Was the plate too week for normal activities of the dog?
    Was the plate placed right?

What I am wondering is if there is any references on forces and
especially on bending moments of dog femur ore even on treatment of
fractures of dog femur using plates and their failure?

This question is urgent, because we have to decide whether to give
    evidence or not.

Thank you very much in advance!
