I am posting details of two positions (one post-doctoral and
one post-graduate) which are currently available within the
Centre for Biomedical Engineering here at Durham.
Jimmy Cunningham.
POST-DOCTORAL POSITION
A Research Assistant (preferably post-doctoral) is required
for one year to work on a EC funded project to investigate
the lubrication and wear properties of a novel design of
prosthetic hip joint. The project will involve lubrication
and wear testing of prosthetic hip joints using friction and
wear simulators situated within the Centre for Biomedical
Engineering. This position is salaried, and it is envisaged
that the successful applicant will be appointed to the 1A or
1B Scale (depending on qualifications and experience).
Applications, in the form of a CV/resume and letter of
application should be sent, by the 30th September, to:

POST-GRADUATE STUDENTSHIP
A Post Graduate Studentship is available in the Centre for
Biomedical Engineering, University of Durham to work on a
project to investigate the use of novel elastomeric
materials in prosthetic joint replacements. The project
will involve materials testing and characterisation of
various polymers and polymer combinations, and would ideally
suit someone with a materials or biomaterials background. A
minimum of an upper second class honours degree (or
equivalent) is required for this studentship.
Further information and application forms for this
studentship can be obtained from:
