    Dear Biomch-L subscribers,

I would like to bring a few things to your attention:

    1. Biomch-L digest option
    -------------------------
One of you asked if it was possible to receive Biomch-L as a
daily digest, instead of individual E-mail messages. The answer
is yes, althought this is not mentioned in the LISTSERV
documentation. It is mentioned, however, in the 'Biomch-l
guide'. If you want digested messages, just send 'set biomch-l
digest' to LISTSERV@nic.surfnet.nl. To receive individual
messages again, send 'set biomch-l nodigest'. The digest option
becomes very useful now, with lots of messages coming every day.
An other possibility is 'set biomch-l index'. This just gives
you a daily index of messages. The messages you want to read can
then be retrieved with 'gopher hearn.nic.surfnet.nl' or other
    methods (see Biomch-L guide).

    2. LISTSERV says 'you are not subscribed to Biomch-L'
    -----------------------------------------------------
This can happen when you issue a 'set biomch-l ...' command, or
when you request a file which is available for subscribers only.
It is caused by a change in your E-mail address since you first
subscribed. You don't notice this normally because all mail to
your old address is automatically forwarded. But for LISTSERV
commands this turns out to be a major headache. The only proper
solution is to get a new subscription from your present address.
Ask one of the moderators to delete your old subscription, and
re-subscribe by sending 'subscribe biomch-l firstname lastname
    affiliation' to LISTSERV@nic.surfnet.nl.

    3. New version of Yellow Pages
    ------------------------------
A new version of the 'Biomch-L yellow pages' has been stored. To
get your copy, send 'get biomch-l ypages' to
    LISTSERV@nic.surfnet.nl. Table of contents:

    4. GCVSPL test program
    ----------------------
A Fortran program written by Herman Woltring to test his spline
package has been stored. To get your copy, send 'get gcvtst
fortran' to LISTSERV@nic.surfnet.nl. From the documentation in
    the source code:

C Testprogramme for generalized cross-validatory spline smoothing
C with subroutine GCVSPL and function SPLDER using the data of
C C.L. Vaughan, Smoothing and differentiation of displacement-
C time data: an application of splines and digital filtering.
    C International Journal of Bio-Medical Computing 13(1982)375-382.

    5. LISTSERV & Biomch-L documentation
    ------------------------------------
To get documentation about LISTSERV, send the command 'info' to
LISTSERV@nic.surfnet.nl. To get documentation for Biomch-L, send
the command 'get biomch-l guide' to the same address. To get a
list of files available from the Biomch-L fileserver, send 'get
    biomch-l filelist' to LISTSERV@nic.surfnet.nl.
