  • Deadline Approaching

Dear Subscribers and Biomechanists all over the world,

The deadline of abstracts submission for the XVth Congress
of the International Society of Biomechanics is approaching.
The Scientific committee expects the two-page, camera ready
abstracts be submitted no later than December 15th, 1994.
While each one of the abstracts will be blind rewieved it is
urgent to receive the papers in time. The "Eager Beavers"
have already done their job. However, there's still time left for
the rest of the Biomechanists to do the same. We wish you a
good luck and patience in finalising the scripts!

    Sincerely Yours,

The Scientific Committee of the ISB XV 1995

    Call for Papers
    *******************
    General information:
Authors are invited to submit proposals for podium and poster
presentations at the Congress. The two-page abstracts should be
written in English within the scope of the Congress Topics. Abstracts
should provide sufficient information for readers to fully assess the
aims, methods, results and implications of the research in question.
Each submission must be original work that has not been published
    previously.

    Submission of abstracts:
Authors are requested to submit one complete, two-page,
camera-ready abstract which will be printed in the Proceedings Book.
Please, note that each abstract will be reviewed before acceptance or
non-acceptance. Therefore, please also send two additional copies
without authors' names, address and affiliations. Abstracts sent by
    fax are not accepted.

    Abstract Format:
The abstracts should be typed on two A4 size (210 mm x 297 mm) white
bond papers and written within 260 mm high by 150 mm wide rectangle.
The margins are: the left margin 41.5 mm and others 18.5 mm. Text
should be justified left, single-paced, with a character size set at
12 points, with a Times typeface. Please do not use typefaces
simulating scriptwriting. Do not hyphenate words at the end of lines.

    Headings:
The title (in CAPITAL letters), the name(s) of the author(s) and
affiliation(s), city and country should be included within the
rectangle described above. Please omit university degrees, titles,
street address and zip code. Each item should be separated by a blank
    line.

    Text:
A two-page abstract should include the following sections: an
introduction, methods, results, discussion and references. The
emphasis of the abstract should be on the results and discussion.
Please write the title of each paragraph in full capital letters
and justify the left margin. Do not separate titles or paragraphs by
a blank line from the following text. Leave a 6-pace indention at the
beginning of each new paragraph. Graphs, tables and references may be
used throughout the abstract. Only SI units are to be employed.

    Figures:
Provide line drawings and black and white glossy photographs in the
correct size for insertion within the text. Figures and captions must
remain within the defined text limits. Figures should be taped (not
glued) in the appropriate position. Each drawing should be numbered
and have a short caption commentary.

    Equations:
Equations can be provided either as line drawing or as glossy
photographs in the correct size or they can be typed on standard
    typewriters.

    References:
Please try to minimize the amount of references. Use Index Medicus
for journal title abbreviations and usual format for reference (see
for instance "instructions to authors" in Journal of Biomechanics).
