QUALIFICATIONS
- Physical Therapist with doctoral degree in physical therapy / related area.
- Evidence of promise as an established scholar and teacher.
- Clinical experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Faculty responsibilities will vary with interests and experience.
- Direct specialized laboratory based research.
- Pursue funding for research.
- Teach in the MA/PhD and MPT curricula.
- Direct and advise graduate students.
- Participate in departmental committees
GRADUATE PROGRAM
The Physical Therapy Graduate Program is an academic unit in the College
of Medicine. The graduate program emphasizes research and teaching in
four area of physical therapy: musculoskeletal (biomechanics,
orthopaedics), neuromuscular (applied neuroscience, neurology),
cardiopulmonary (applied cardiorespiratory physiology), and
ergonomics/movement analysis (applications to industrial-related
biomechanics, orthopedic, and neurologic problems). Outstanding
opportunities for clinical service and research are available within the
Health Science Center. The program offers the following degrees: Master
of Physical Therapy (MPT), a master of arts degree (MA), and in
conjunction with the Department of Exercise Science a doctor of
philosophy degree (PhD). Present enrollment includes 72 MPT and 25 MA
and PhD students.
