I AM REPEATING THIS MESSAGE AS A REMINDER FOR THOSE PLANNING TO SEND
ABSTRACTS. THE DUE DATE IS MARCH 30TH 1995 AND THE CONFERENCE
PLANNING PROCESS IS PROGRESSING WELL.WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO
WELCOMING NEW PEOPLE TO THE CONFERENCE PLUS INTO OUR MEMBERSHIP.
THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM FOR BIOMECHANICS IN SPORT.(I.S.B.S) will
be held on JULY 18-22nd 1995. in THUNDER BAY,ONTARIO.CANADA.The X1IITH
SYMPOSIUM will be organised by the SCHOOL OF KINESIOLOGY at LAKEHEAD
UNIVERSITY IN THUNDER BAY.The city of Thunder Bay is the capital city
of the Northwestern Ontario region and is located along the shores of
Lake Superior ,the largest fresh water lake in the world.The
contemporary progressive city has a charming multi cultural
personality with a population around 120,000.The region abounds with
beautiful natural wilderness areas,aboriginal attractions and
cultural diversity.The conference social and recreational program
will take advantage of all these attractions in order to complement
your academic experience.
The I.S.B.S. constitution objective is to provide A FORUM FOR
RESEARCHERS,TEACHERS,COACHES AND PRACTITIONERS IN SPORTS
BIOMECHANICS. THE 1995 Symposium will promote the interaction of
Biomechanical Researchers and practitioners with coaches,clinicians
and teachers working in the sporting field.
PRESENTATION TOPICS INCLUDE:
* PURE AND APPLIED SPORT BIOMECHANICS.
* BIOMECHANICS IN COACHING AND TEACHING.
* BIOMECHANICS IN SPORT FOR SPECIAL POPULATIONS
* BIOMECHANICS OF TRAINING AND REHABILITATION.
* BIOMECHANICS OF TRAINING AND SPORT EQUIPMENT.
The 3RD.CALL FOR ABSTRACTS,REGISTRATION AND ACCOMODATION details
will be mailed out in early JANUARY 1995. ABSTACTS ARE DUE MARCH.
30TH. and will be reviewed by the conference SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE
with a response by APRIL 20th.The ABSTRACT FORMAT WILL BE AS FOLLOWS
Abstracts should be submitted on one camera ready 8.5x11" sheet
with 1.5" margins.Print type will be limited to Elite or Roman
12,single spaced except for the title, authors and institution which
should appear on 3 separate lines(double spaced) at the top center of
the page.The presenting author should be underlined.The content
should include : a brief statement on research purpose and
significance,related literature,methods,results and a concluding
staement including research applications to Sport Biomechanics or
related fields.(DUE MARCH30TH,1995)
PAPER MANUSCRIPT: A manuscript should be provided at the conference
in order to be reviewed for publication in the conference
proceedings.The paper should be no longer than 4 pages including
references, diagrams and tables.1.5" margins will be used.The title
should be double spaced in caps and centered on the first page with
the author and co-authors below on the second line.The text
should use Elite or Roman 12, left justified.,S.I. units,tables and
figures numbered at the top and bottom respectively with appropriate
labels.Figures and photographs should be clear black and white prints
inserted into the text.No coloured photos will be accepted
Referencing must be consistent and conform to the Journal of
Applied Biomechanics .The name of the author and year should appear
in parenthesis after the referenced material in the text.References
should be listed in alphabetical order with name,title,journal or
book source,volume,page and year.
PREREGISTRATION savings can be gained by registration before May1
1995.Accomodation and meal packages will be available for modern
on site condominiums set in natural forested surroundings adjacent to
walking and jogging trails,golf and a picturesque stream and lake
area. Registration packages will arrive early in the new year.
TRAVEL to Thunder Bay via air will be through Toronto.Winnipeg or
