  • Figure skate instrumentation and kinetic analysis (fwd)

    Dear Subscribers,

I am a first year Masters student in biomechanics at Waterloo (Ontario,
Canada) with an extensive figure skating background. I wish to
"instrument" a figure skating blade with force transducers to determine axial and compressive loading during the
landing of jumps. This information will be used to conduct a full
kinetic analysis of a figure skating jump.

Since we are just beginning our research, I am wondering if anyone out
there can refer me to recent developments in research regarding:

    1. Instrumenting skates or similar equipment?
    2. DLT video analysis (camera placement, # of cameras, how the ground
    was referenced.)
    3. Kinetic/kinematic analysis of rotational motions.
    4. Strain gauge instrumentation techniques.
    5. Scientific figure skating articles.
    6. Anything you think may be pertinent to this area of research.

I will (try!) to post a summary of replies after I receive them.

    Thanking you in advance,
