    Fixed Term (up to 4 years) Appointments

    Three vacancies exist and may be filled at one or more of the above
    levels. An outstanding applicant with demonstrated capacity for research
    leadership may be considered for a Professorial appointment.

    This newly reorganised department within the Faculty of Health and
    Behavioural Sciences has a mandate to create a strong, research-
    orientated department dedicated to producing quality graduates in the
    health and biomedical sciences. A new building to house the Faculty is
    under construction and will include excellent research and postgraduate
    facilities. Undergraduate courses include Biomedical Science, Human
    Movement Science and a new 4-year program in Exercise Science. The
    department services the Anatomy and Physiology disciplines for the University.

    Department research focuses on the roles of diet, exercise and genetic
    factors in health and disease. Particular research strengths are in
    energy balance, diabetes, exercise and environmental physiology, central
    and autonomic nervous systems, stress physiology, BIOMECHANICS, ageing and
    anatomy. Our research approaches range from intracellular metabolism in
    cell culture to human clinical studies.

    One of the successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the
    undergraduate and postgraduate teaching program in the area of exercise
    science/rehabilitation and should have qualifications in such areas as
    exercise physiology, pharmacology, CLINICAL BIOMECHANICS or rehabilitation
    medicine. Excellent opportunities exist within the University and the
    Illawarra Area Health Service for interdisciplinary research and
    clinically qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

    A full-time or two fractional (up to 50%) positions are available at the
    Associate Lecturer level. These would suit good Honours or Masters
    graduates or particularly MEDICAL GRADUATES who would like to obtain
    teaching experience while doing research towards a PhD. In addition
    scholarships for PhD study are available for Medical Graduates who are
    considering a Research or Academic career. These can be taken up
    full-time or part-time in combination with a fractional appointment at
    Associate Lecturer level.

    Annual salary: $61,322-$67,558 Associate Professor (Level D),
    $50,928-$58,724 Senior Lecturer (Level C), $41,574-$49,370 Lecturer (Level
    B), $29,117-$39,395 Associate Lecturer (Level A). Position classification
